On Tuesday the 26th of June Trentham Academy staff visited Newstead Primary Academy to create an animation project using iPads. This awesome project enhanced the learning on the class text, Street Child by Berlie Doherty. The Y5 classes directed their own movies, retelling elements of the story in their own words using stop motion animation and video editing.
Animation projects are a fantastic way to engage students and serve as a brilliant tool to assess and clarify understanding at the end of a book unit. They have the power to bring a novel to life and allow the students to learn in such an interactive way that they can remember the story. Every student, regardless of ability, has a role to play within the making of the animation where ideas are valued and contribution is rewarded by the end result. This is one of the most enjoyable and exciting projects that we have been involved in.
The quality of the artwork and content of the stories was enjoyed by all in a showing at the end of the day. Mr Bunyan would like to thank the school for being so enthusiastic and receptive.
You can see the actual work produced in the video below.
