I am currently Assistant Principal at City of Stoke-on-Trent 6th Form College and have more than 10 years’ experience of management and teaching in education. I have a very good understanding of what makes a good/outstanding school and have a vast amount of experience of OFSTED inspections. A key area where I have a particular interest is around improving performance in particular teaching and learnings to improve students’ progress. I have high expectations and seek to look at the most effective and efficient ways of improving quality and experiences for young people.
Having worked with young people in the FE sector for a number of years I wanted to broaden my understanding of education at secondary level, as well as be able to offer my experience within teaching and learning to the school. I have been a governor at Trentham for 4 years, it is a great school with good students and my ultimate motivation is being able to have a positive impact on the lives of the young people within the school.
I have keen interest in sport (this is my teaching specialism) and in my younger years I was a competitive middle distance athlete, competing for Stoke-on-Trent. I enjoy spending time with my family and visiting different countries to experience the different cultures that they offer.
